- Remember the episode of "Facts of Life"
where Blair
would catch the new girl smoking pot and then get all
concerned, and they'd play meaningful music and Mrs.
Garrett would do a serious one-on-one intervention and
the poor girl's parents would get called, and we'd all
learn a lesson about why smoking pot is wrong? Didn't
it always seem just evil that Blair was such a
hypocrite and bitch and kept getting everyone into
trouble when really, she had a major attitude problem?
This newsletter is like that.
- There's just too much stuff happening to only do the
newsletter once a month. You guys are fucking active.
I guess it's because you're all so lonely about that
whole "being alone on Valentine's Day" thing; it makes
you work harder to forget the pain of being alone and
unloveable. I'm also pretty active. I mean, not
necessarily physically, but I write tons on the
computer and my email skills are unparalleled.
- Check out a new interview with me on the lovely
Susie Adrianson's site Mingle Mangle: Horror
Filmmakers and Fans
http://www.minglemangle.org/main/index.php Thanks
Susie! Don't you just love it when women totally,
metaphorically, pat each other on the ass like that?
esp when the ass is Susie's?
- I'd like to let everyone know I am officially
producing the new short Safe Word from
www.conspiracy-productions.com,
the all-woman horror
production company. I get to work on it cause I am a
woman. We plan on shooting in June 2006. Safe Word
will be directed by newcomer Jenni Schmitt.
- This month I get to do cool shit like interview
Emilie de Ravin from LOST and The HILLS HAVE EYES
remake, and talk to Milla Jovovich from ULTRA VIOLET.
Too bad I'm not gay; how fucking excited would I be
then???? BUt these women rock. You can look for both
of these interviews in March on www.pretty-scary.net,
and they'll be up on my personal website as well.
- The www.pretty-scary.net
MARCH 2006 Scary Stud of
the Month will be Tim Sullivan, the director of 2001
Maniacs.
- LITERATURE NEWS ON PRETTY/SCARY: Pretty/Scary has
some important news for authors: We have a new MEMBER
FICTION SECTION where chicks can submit their horror
fiction for public viewing. At the end of 2006, We'll
be compiling a Pretty/Scary Horror Literature
Anthology and publishing it based on submissions to
our site. If you're a chick, and you write short
horror fiction or poetry, and it doesn't completely
suck, submit it HERE: www.pretty-scary.net/fiction/
.
Horror Author Elizabeth Blue www.elizabethblue.com is
the new FICTION EDITOR.
- ARTIST NEWS ON PRETTY/SCARY: The Art Gallery is
reopened and is being managed by Ruby Orman of
www.nightmirrors.com. Every
Month we'll be featuring a
different artist and adding a new gallery. We'll be
including interviews with each artist as well. If
you'd like to suggest an artist, please come by the
site and let us know, or email Ruby at
ruby@nightmirrors.com. You
can check out our Art
Gallery at

- IF YOu are in Los Angeles, go check out the Beverly
Hills Short Film Festival this weekend, Feb 24-26th.

Lots of scary and
awesome short films.... I'll be there.
Special message From Tim Sullivan, director of 2001
Maniacs::::
Calling All Maniacs!
Hard to believe....
Five years ago in the year 2000, Chris Kobin and I sat
down and wrote a little terror tale called 2001
MANIACS. We called it that because we naively thought
we would sell it, film it and release by the year
2001.
WRONG!
But here we are, five years later, five weeks away
from our journey finally coming to an end.
And a new beginning.
For I truly believe we've got a cult hit on our hands,
folks. Yep. It happened with DETROIT ROCK CITY. A
labor of love and passion that fell into the ether--
only to stand the test of time as a beloved,
worshipped quirky cult classic.
Kobin and I owe so much of that to ALL OF YOU--
Everybody who played a part onscreen and off, in front
of the camera, behind the camera, and friends and
family who kept believing. And that deserves a toast-
On Tuesday, March 28th, the day that 2001 MANIACS will
actually be released, there will be a very special
autograph signing party at DARK DELICACIES, the number
one premiere horror and fantasy shop in Southern
California.
Tuesday, March 28th at 7:00 PM
Dark Delicacies
4213 W. Burbank Blvd.
Burbank, CA 91505
And no matter who you are, please send out the below
link to as many folks as possible to let them know
about this event at Dark Delicacies...

I want to see a line around the block!
Also--
If you have any friends on the East Coast, let them
know by sending out the below link that there will be
a New York Premiere--- I will be doing a Q&A with
Christa Campbell, Wendy Kremer, Dylan Edrington-- and
any other Maniac who finds their way to the Big Apple!

that people can watch the trailer and then buy the

You can also send out a message to all your My Space
friends with these links.
Here they are-- (along with a sample Blog that you can
customize....)
Hey - I either killed, got killed, got naked, kept my
clothes on, or know someone who killed, got killed,
got naked or kept their clothes on in the upcoming
twisted horror comedy 2001 MANIACS. Check out the

So there ya go--- THANK YOU.
I can't wait for you all to experience the AMAZING DVD

extremely grateful.

PRESCRIBED FILMS:::
PRESCRIBED FILMS IS PREMIERING THEIR NEWEST FEATURE
FILM, “GOING TO TROMADANCE” AT THE OTTUMWA 8 THEATRE
SATURDAY MARCH 4TH AT 5PM.
This is Prescribed Films 17th film and their first
documentary. This 96 minute comedy was completely
improved over a 5-day trip to the TromaDance Film
Festival in Park City, Utah last January of 2005.
It will be the second film that Prescribed Films has
premiered at the Ottumwa 8 Theatre. Last year’s “The
Bag Man” was a great success.
MOVIE DESCRIPTION:
“Going to TromaDance” is more than just two idiots in
a car. It’s more than filmmakers “Insane Mike”
Saunders and Jason Bolinger trying to get a film
accepted into the TromaDance Film Festival. It’s more
than just Prescribed Films trying to sell their
vacation videos. It’s more than just a hilarious film
documenting the twenty-hour trip from Ottumwa, Iowa to
Park City, Utah. It’s more than two Troma fan boys
making a movie about their experiences at the
TromaDance Film Festival. Wait a minute… That’s
exactly what it is!
FILMMAKER’S BIO:
Prescribed Films
-If you're sick, we've got your flick-
I think the tag line says it all.
That's Prescribed Films all right, Iowa's newest
independent film company, specializing in genres that
only a mother could love. We're talking everything
from sick and twisted slasher films and deep dark
horror dramas to mockumentaries and jokes on film.
These boys just aren't right in the head and their
films prove it.
Prescribed Films are made of a cast of hooligans.
Their leaders, INSANE Mike Saunders (Director/Editor)
and Jason Bolinger (Asst. Director) have years of
experience under their collective belts in the movie
making industry. They're masters of squeezing every
cent out of their "no-budget" productions. It's just
too bad that they abuse their power for evil every
chance they get. Cap'n Spooty, Steven Tracy, Bruce
Heppner-Elgin, Jon Van Allen, Kevin Railsback, and
Jill Emmert are no slouches either, not a shoot goes
by where they don't break every cinematic rule in the
book.
And while their movies, to the untrained eye, may seem
a little raw and under produced, their passion for
filmmaking is obvious to all. They eat, drink, and
sleep movies. I've never seen a harder working group
of people. That's why when you want to see something
true, you want to see something real, you want to see
something wrong and disgusting, see a Prescribed Films
movie.

impurities out of our cheap vodka (when we run out of
beer and rum!). Our newest

About the Backseat Film Festival (BFF):
Now in its fourth year, The BFF is devoted to the best
in edgy, unpretentious
movies from all over the cinematic globe. An
electrifying mix of zany short
films, sleazy music videos, unrelenting documentaries
and some of the most
exciting feature film premieres around, the BFF is a
showcase for movies that
embody the youthful, exhilarating spirit of rock ‘n
roll. No
multicultural-love-stories or heavy-handed political
statements here, just a lot
of zombies, hot chicks, bad jokes and great music.
The BFF selection process is very thorough to ensure
the quality of the
selections. First the programmers watch the film
sober, then again when they are
slightly buzzed, then again when totally smashed. The
films that don’t make the
cut are then put into a rejected submissions pile,
which is then ritualistically
and violently destroyed before a live audience at the
BFF Opening Ceremonies.
Past rejections have been axed, burned, hammered,
micro waved and even shot.
This year we are considering putting them into a car
and driving them off a
cliff or into a wall, but you’ll have to come to the
Opening Ceremonies to see!
Besides having great films, our only other festival
policy is that you must be
able to drink booze in any venue the festival is held
in, and plenty of it!
Thanks to generous sponsors like Pabst Blue Ribbon and
Sailor Jerry Rum, we’re
able to give free booze out like water! As those who
attended past festival
events can attest, the programmers of the BFF vow that
they will do a shot with
anyone who buys a ticket for the festival as they
enter the screening, and then
some!
We’re coming to destroy your city…with movies!
